Introduction of Hubei Polytechnic University

Hubei Polytechnic University is a general higher education institution with rapid development focusing on cultivating application-oriented talents, with engineering being our strong point. It is located in Huangshi, Hubei, a cradle of modern Chinese national industry. The school covers an area of 1 million 460 thousand square meters, the school building area is 665 thous & square meters. Supported by Qinglong mountain from the back & surrounded by the Ci Hu lake, Hubei Polytechnic University enjoys a beautiful environment, picturesque scenery, and is known as the most beautiful campus.

Founded in 1975, HBPU began to run undergraduate programs first in the year of 1977. Different names have been used through our development, such as Hubei Provincial Polytechnic School, Huangshi Branch of Wuhan Institute of Technology (now Wuhan University of Technology), Huangshi Polytechnic College. In 2004, the university was renamed to Huangshi Institute of Technology. In the year of 2010,  HBPU was in the first group to pass the Undergraduate Programs Evaluation sponsored by the Ministry of Education. In the year of 2011, the university was renamed as Hubei Polytechnic University. In 2016, HBPU was elected the first rotating chairman university of Hubei Universities Applied   Alliance. Among the local universities in Hubei province, HBPU is in the first group to receive the national evaluation of undergraduate teaching quality launched by the Ministry of Education.

HBPU has 21 subordinate schools and 55 undergraduate programs covering 8 disciplines including engineering, science, economics, management, medicine, literature, education & arts. The university boasts 4 provincial-level Key Disciplines, namely Environmental Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Art Theory & Pharmacy. Environmental engineering ranks as the national level distinguishing specialty & national comprehensive reform pilot program. We have 3 Hubei provincial "Jingchu outstanding talents" collaborative programs, 6 provincial experimental exemplary programs, 6 Hubei Provincial Strategic Pillar Industry Project programs, 13 provincial excellent (demonstration) courses.
